Why
Why The Fifth Hand Shop? When we decided to open the shop, we had no idea how to name it. One sunny afternoon we were driving in our vintage Volkswagen and we got an idea to combine our names in an anagram. Our names Petra and Rok in anagram means pet rok translated to English five hands and after developing the idea The Fifth Hand Shop was born. We love doing this because of joy in giving forgotten vintage items new life and a chance to shine in their former glory.
What
What do we do? We are big enthusiast’s, collectors, buyers and sellers of everything vintage. We buy, collect and sell vintage and designer items. Mostly we specify on vintage interior design, which includes lamps, furniture, art, clocks and much more. We love the lamps the most, as in our opinion a great lamp makes the room shine.
How
How everything works? We buy our items from our old connections, we search for them on flea markets, online ads etc. When they come to our shop, we first decide which ones we will keep and which we will sell. After that everything gets a good check and a cleanup. We usually don’t restore the items, because we believe that this personal decision has to be made by the next owner. When everything is ready, we photograph the items and put them online. When sold, merchandise is checked again, to make sure everything works and that everything is as on pictures. Then, the item is wrapped in bubble foil and stored in a hard cardboard box, together with some special shipping paper and shipped to the new owner.
